OBITUARY:
Amy F. Goodwin, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, May 27th, at the age of forty. She was the beloved daughter of John F. and Joyce M. (Huber) Goodwin.
Amy was born in Boston and raised in Woburn, and was educated in the Woburn school system. She graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1988. Throughout her life she was involved with the New England Rehabilitation Hospital, first as an elevator operator after she finished high school, and later she assisted in patient relations. For many years she volunteered at the hospital and loved her work there interacting with staff and patients.
Although she became wheelchair-bound twenty years ago, she maintained an enthusiasm for life and did not allow her disability to restrict her. Amy loved people and had a wonderful disposition. She frequently boarded a bus heading to Boston with her friends, spending time at Quincy Market and other favorite spots. Each summer she loved the time she spent at Camp Allen in Bedford, New Hampshire, a camp for individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities. She made many friends there and enjoyed helping the other campers. Amy was also involved for many years as a fundraiser for Children's Hospital in Boston.
Along with her parents, John F. and Joyce M. (Huber) Goodwin, she leaves a sister, Janet E. Myers and her husband Gary of Stoughton, a brother, Steven W. Goodwin of Braintree, and a nephew, Justin Goodwin.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, June 2nd at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Barbara's Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Donations may be made in Amy's memory to Camp Allen, 56 Camp Allen Road, Bedford, NH 03110-6606.
