ROSALEEN M. (RYAN) TURNER - of Burlington, formerly of Lynn and Beverly, January 13th. Beloved wife of the late Hugh F. Turner. Devoted mother of Mary E. Walsh and her husband William of Beverly, Paul E. Turner and his wife Elaine of Westford, Anne F. Distefano and her husband of Joseph of Lynnfield, and Joseph D. Turner of Burlington. Dear sister of Leonard Ryan of Peabody, Ruth Putnam of Saugus, Eileen Ward and Louise Boisselle, both of Lynn and the late Daniel, Patrick, Arthur, Eamon, Helen, Kathleen and Dorothy Ryan. Cherished grandmother of Theresa Cristoforo, David Standley, and Joseph Distefano, and great-grandmother of Nicolas Cristoforo. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, January 18th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Margaret's Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 10. OBITUARY:
Rosaleen M. Turner, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away at Rosewood Nursing Center in Peabody on Wednesday, January 13th, at the age of eighty-eight. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh F. Turner.
Born in Lynn, she was one of twelve children of the late Daniel and Mary (O'Connell) Ryan. She was a 1938 graduate of Lynn English High School and graduated from Burdett College in 1940. She worked as a legal secretary in Lynn until she married in 1950. She and her husband built a home in Beverly where they raised their four children, and then in 1968 took up residence in Burlington, where they remained. After raising her children, she returned to work at Honeywell in Wellesley and Waltham until retiring in 1986. She and her husband then moved to Cataumet on Cape Cod, where they remained for thirteen years, spending their winters on the West Coast of Florida.
A wonderful wife and mother with high morals and standards, she was known for her generosity and her strength, always giving 200% to her family. She was a friend and confidant to her children and later her grandchildren, for whom she had a great love.
Along with her husband Hugh, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Daniel, Patrick, Arthur, and Eamon, and three sisters, Helen, Kathleen and Dorothy.
Surviving are four children: Mary E. Walsh and her husband William of Beverly, Paul E. Turner and his wife Elaine of Westford, Anne F. Distefano and her husband of Joseph of Lynnfield, and Joseph D. Turner of Burlington, a brother, Leonard Ryan of Peabody, and three sisters: Ruth Putnam of Saugus and Eileen Ward and Louise Boisselle, both of Lynn. She was also the cherished grandmother of Theresa Cristoforo, David Standley, and Joseph Distefano, and great-grandmother of Nicolas Cristoforo.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, January 18th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Margaret's Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 10. Interment will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
