Obituary

CHRISTINE (KRECONUS) PUFHAL - of Woburn, January 19th. Beloved mother of Alcine O'Toole and her husband Thomas of FL and Stephen Pufhal and his companion, Nancy Verrill, of Sanford, ME. Dear sister of Theodora Bedell and the late Aphrodite Harris and Thomas Kreconus. Loving grandmother of Landon and Mark Hatfield, Kathleen Hatfield Perham, and Alexander Pufhal, and great-grandmother of Kaitlin, Gilbert, Kody, Kourtney, Spencer and Katrina. A funeral service will be held in the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Avenue, Woburn, on Monday, January 25th at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church Monday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m., prior to the service. Private burial services will be held at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christine's memory to the Hellenic Nursing Home, 601 Sherman Street, Canton, MA 02021.

OBITUARY:

Christine (Kreconus) Pufhal of Woburn passed away on Tuesday, January 19th, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine, following a short illness. She was eighty-nine years of age.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Olymbia) Leacopoulos. She graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1937 and lived here all her life. She was a communicant of the Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn and a volunteer at many functions over the years. She was a past president of the Over 50's Club at the church and organized trips to places such as Greece, England, Hawaii, and numerous historic vacation sites in the United States that many people enjoyed. She also volunteered at the Choate Memorial Hospital, the American Heritage Museum, and the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton. Among her hobbies were interior decorating, traveling and gardening.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Thomas Kreconus, and a sister, Aphrodite Harris.

Surviving are her daughter, Alcine O'Toole and her husband Thomas of Florida, her son, Stephen Pufhal and his companion, Nancy Verrill, of Sanford, Maine, a sister, Theodora Bedell, four grandchildren, Landon and Mark Hatfield, Kathleen Hatfield Perham, and Alexander Pufhal, and six great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Gilbert, Kody, Kourtney, Spencer and Katrina.
