OBITUARY:

Veronica Marie Restivo, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away quietly and peacefully on Thursday morning at the Woburn Nursing Center. The beloved daughter of the late Cataldo and Phyllis (Urano) Restivo, she was ninety-four years of age.

Raised in the south end of Woburn, she and her siblings, who were extremely close throughout their lives, shared lots of fun growing up. Veronica attended the Woburn Public Schools but was unable to finish her education, as she left high school to care for her five siblings after their mother's death. In addition to helping her father raise her sisters and brothers, Veronica also assisted with their family business, which was located in the south end near their home. Today, after many successful years, the family business, Sammy's Deli, is still operating at their location on Winn Street in Burlington.

Veronica was an extremely clever and creative person. She could cook, sew, crochet and knit. As a young girl she made most of her sisters' and brothers' clothing. Over the years she knitted afghans, sweaters and hats for family members and friends.

In later years, Veronica delighted in traveling, especially to Florida and Yellowstone National Park, which was one of her most memorable trips. She was a proud and avid Red Sox fan and never missed a ball game. She was an abundantly kind and generous woman with a wonderful sense of humor. The true matriarch of the Restivo family, Veronica loved them all dearly and took great comfort and joy in their times together. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews, whom she also cherished.

Along with her parents, Veronica was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances E. Chiumiento and Rose Marie Lemone.

Surviving are two brothers, Samuel J. "Sammy" Restivo and his wife Ann of Burlington and Severio J. "Sal" Restivo and his wife Rosemary of Woburn, and a sister, Angeline A. LaDelfe and her husband Angelo of Woburn. She was also the dear sister-in-law of John "Anthony" Chiumiento of Woburn and Louis Lemone of NH, and leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 30th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Veronica's memory to VNA Hospice Care, Inc., 100 Sylvan Road, G-500, Woburn, MA 01801.
