JOHN C. BAXTER, SR. - of Burlington, July 11th. Beloved husband of the late Angela A. (Adams) Baxter. Devoted father of John C. Baxter, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Burlington and the late Gina Baxter. Dear brother of Madeline MacDougall of Billerica, June Ananian of Wilmington, Phyllis Martin and Leaman Baxter, both of Woburn, and the late William Baxter. Loving grandfather of Alexis, Tara, and Stephanie. Graveside services will be private. Arrangements by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn.

OBITUARY:

John C. Baxter, Sr. of Burlington passed away at Winchester Hospital on Sunday, July 11th, following a lengthy illness. The beloved husband of the late Angela A. (Adams) Baxter, who died just four months ago, he was seventy-six years of age.

Born in Burlington, he was the son of the late Leaman and Matilda Baxter. He grew up in Wilmington and served with the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. It was when he was stationed at Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis, Missouri, that he met Angela Adams. They married in 1953 and took up residence in Burlington after his honorable discharge from the service.

For most of his life, John worked as a service manager for International Trucking, a firm formerly located in Medford. Following his retirement he drove a truck for Johnson's Roses in Woburn for a few years.

John and his wife enjoyed spending time in Kennebunk during the summers, and traveled frequently to visit her family in St. Louis.

Along with his wife Angela, with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Baxter, who died in 1995, and a brother, William.

Surviving is a son, John C. Baxter, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Burlington, three sisters, Madeline MacDougall of Billerica, June Ananian of Wilmington, and Phyllis Martin of Woburn, a brother, Leaman Baxter of Woburn, and three granddaughters, Alexis, Tara, and Stephanie.

Graveside services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn.
