OBITUARY:

Louis J. App, a resident of Woburn for most of his life, passed away in Wilmington Friday evening, July 23rd, at the age of eighty-five. He was the beloved husband of Rita L. (Doucette) App, who died eight years ago.

Louis was born and raised in Woburn, son of the late Joseph and Anna (McManus) App. He graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1942 and was a proud veteran of World War II, having served with the Corps of Engineers in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations.

He and his wife Rita lived in North Woburn, where they were active in St. Anthony's parish and volunteered their time in the annual St. Anthony Festival.

Louis was employed for most of his career at Liquid Carbonic Company in Tewksbury, where he worked in the maintenance and transportation department. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans in Woburn.

During their fifty years of marriage, Louis and his wife Rita enjoyed square dancing and traveling together. They were loving "second parents" to their many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews, and never missed a birthday, wedding, christening, or other celebration in which their extended family was involved. For the past few years, Louis had made his home in Wilmington.

Along with his wife Rita, he was predeceased by his six brothers and sisters: Joseph, Edward, and James App, Bernice McDermott, Margaret Robertson, and Mary Rooney.

Surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, July 27th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Louis' memory to the VNA Middlesex East and Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
