SHIRLEY A. (SHERIDAN) FLYNN - in Woburn, formerly of Winchester, July 1st. Beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Flynn. Devoted mother of Maureen Molloy and her husband Thomas of Arlington, Arthur Flynn of Melrose, Karen Herman and her husband James of Andover, John Flynn of Melrose, Christine Struthers and her husband Thomas of Wakefield, Brian Flynn and his wife Jennifer of Boxford, and the late Daniel Flynn. Dear sister of Muriel McCarthy of Saugus. Loving grandmother of Briana and Kayla Flynn, Katie and Sean Molloy, Barrett, Kristin, and Lauren Flynn, James and Stephen Herman, Samantha, Joseph, and Matthew Struthers, and Taylor and Emma Flynn. Also survived by her nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, July 6th, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Eulalia's Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, at 10. Calling hours Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. OBITUARY:
Shirley A. Flynn of Woburn, previously a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge early Sunday, July 1st, following a long illness. The wife of the late Arthur J. Flynn, who died in 2002, she was seventy-seven years of age.
Born and raised in the Porter Square section of Cambridge, Shirley was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Rita (Weiland) Sheridan. She was a graduate of St. John's High School in North Cambridge.
Following their marriage, Shirley and her husband Arthur took up residence in Winchester, where they raised their seven children. Shirley moved to Woburn's West Side seven years ago.
A devoted wife, mother, and "Gramma" to her grandchildren, Shirley was happiest when spending time with them. The family enjoyed their vacation home in Wakefield, New Hampshire, and spent many happy times together there swimming and boating. In earlier years she was an avid Bingo player and loved playing cards with her friends as well as watching her favorite show, "Jeopardy." Shirley will be remembered for her wonderful outlook on life and was never heard to complain, even as her health declined in recent years.
Along with her husband Arthur, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Flynn.
Surviving are six children: Maureen Molloy and her husband Thomas of Arlington, Arthur Flynn of Melrose, Karen Herman and her husband James of Andover, John Flynn of Melrose, Christine Struthers and her husband Thomas of Wakefield, Brian Flynn and his wife Jennifer of Boxford, her sister, Muriel McCarthy of Saugus, and fourteen grandchildren: Briana and Kayla Flynn, Katie and Sean Molloy, Barrett, Kristin, and Lauren Flynn, James and Stephen Herman, Samantha, Joseph, and Matthew Struthers, and Taylor and Emma Flynn. Also survived by her nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, July 6th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Eulalia's Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, at 10. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
