OBITUARY:
Rose M. (Lodico) O'Connor passed away Monday afternoon July 9th at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. The beloved wife of the late John W. O'Connor would have been 101 at the beginning of August.
Born in Somerville over a century ago, Rose was one of six children born to Albert and Camella Lodico. She was raised and educated in Somerville. In the late thirties she married John W. O'Connor, to whom she was devoted over the next fifty years. They moved to the south side of Medford, where together they brought into the world three wonderful children, to whom she was devoted. Throughout those years they would often vacation at Old Orchard and Hampton Beaches, along with frequent trips to Nantasket Beach to visit their grandparents.
In the early sixties, the children were out of school and Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor then moved to the West side of Woburn. Mrs. O'Connor was very active in St. Barbara's Parish and enjoyed being a part of the Ladies Sodality. Throughout the rest of her life she was actively involved with her grandchildren. From their academic and sporting events to their graduations, marriages and births of her great grandchildren, she was there for it all.
A very fiesty, fun-loving person, she always enjoyed a good game of cards, with Skat being the game of choice. An avid sports fan, she never missed a Bruins game throughout all of her years.
Most importantly Mrs. O'Connor was a great woman of faith. The love of her family and her God were at the forefront of her life for over a century, a legacy in the hearts of her family that was filled with faith, love, and family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. O’Connor was predeceased by her husband, John W. O’Connor, her brothers, Joseph, Charles, Michael, Anthony, her sisters, Mary, and Grace, and her son-in-law, Roger E. Bossi.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Elizabeth A. Bossi of NH, John R. "Oakie" O'Connor and his wife Maureen of Andover, Albert H. O'Connor and his wife Norine of NH, her grandchildren, Karen, Maryellen, and Eric Bossi, Jay, Mark, and Keith O'Connor and Kris Norton and great-grandchildren Tyler, John, David, Jessica, Jaime, Rylie, Ayden.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, July 13th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a service in the funeral home at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Donations may be made in Mrs. O'Connor's memory to the Cam Neely Foundation, 30 Winter Street, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02108.
